Tinos, one of the biggest Cycladic islands, is considered to be the island of Holy Mary. The inhabitants of the island, being fully aware of the holiness of the land, are peaceful and friendly.

The island truly seems to be blessed, since the winter is calm and the summer is cool. Hundreds of small churches and pigeon-houses cover the green land, and at the many local festivals, locally produced cheese, honey and special treats like “Louza” are offered to the visitors. The many villages covering the landscape remain culturally intact, an example of which is Pirgos, where one can find Halepa’s house.
The marble church of Holy Mary, is built at the exact location where the miraculous icon was found. Near the church one can find the 'Museum of Tineans and Greek Painters', and the Archaeological museum of Tinos, where the findings from the temple of Poseidon and Amfitrite are displayed.
